Golf Travel Portugal

A country with a sunny coastal climate, mild year round temperatures and exceptional natural beauty, Portugal is growing in popularity with golfers from all around the world. It's sunny and gentle climate allows year round golf, particularly in the Algarve. Most of the country's golf courses are concentrated around Lisbon and the Algarve.

Portugal has a rich seafaring past, superb beach resorts, wistful towns and a landscape wreathed in olive groves, vineyards and wheat fields. Littered with UNESCO World Heritage sites and graced by one of Europe's most relaxed and attractive capitals, it also remains refreshingly affordable.

Savouring life slowly is a Portuguese passion, and much of the best is humble - traditional folk festivals; simple, honest food drowning in olive oil; music that pulls at the heart strings, recalling past love and glories; and markets overflowing with fish, fruit and flowers.

Although tourists most often think of Port, Rosé and golf courses, there's a lot more to discover, for the entire country is fascinating, from historical and cultural perspectives. It has great museums, magnificent churches both large and small, pristine mountain villages, rolling plains, and hundreds of miles of gold sandy beaches stretching all the way to its northern border with Spain.

Portugal is a paradise for every kind of golfer, for here they will find courses set in all manner of different and breathtaking landscapes. There is an ever increasing supply of golfing venues, with new courses appearing on a cyclical basis. All of them have a high level of aesthetic and logistical quality, being specially designed to satisfy the most demanding golfers - Portugal has hosted three important tournaments in the European professional circuit: the Portuguese Open in the Algarve, the Madeira Open and the Estoril Open.
